The Vancouver Island Marmot lives in alpine meadows. It is not a pest, but it is the most critically endangered mammal in the entire country and exists no where outside of Canada. In fact, they are on the world's top 100 under 100 — a list of species that have a population of less than 100 members.

Vigorous efforts are underway to help the population rebound and you can help - www.marmots.org/donate.htm. Think about the change we can create if we can help these cute little guys bounce back. Think about what it means for our environmental future if we can't.
